I had no idea that programming has become so cooler. Seriously, the open source revolution has changed the world of programming. I remember when I last coded in 2004; those boring interfaces, doing embedded programming in a switch. Now, it’s a whole different world.
I attended a Ruby on Rails workshop very recently in San Francisco. I was up and running in 3 hours with all the necessary software installed in my MAC. And wow, it has become way cooler and so much more fun.
And the Rails application – OMG!! I can have a web server up and running in minutes. Rails basically does half the work for you so that you can channel your energies on more important stuff.
I also have started to grow an affiliation for Ruby – much less error prone than C. Though I agree that Ruby is much more slower (was basically written in C).
I am looking forward to playing more with RoR – it appeals to my dormant geeky heart. Though I moved to the dark side – I am still an engineer at heart. Shh!! Don’t let anyone know…
